I had heard some buzz about the new lip contour on social media so was excited to see I had been sent 'fair' to try out.
The packaging itself is beautiful - everything I love about a product actually. It's heavy, metallic, has a colour indicator at the base and is retractable. YES!!
By hearing lip 'contour' I thought this might have a dual shade (one to line and one to fill) but actually this is a single shade that claims to prime, contour and shape.
This has a dome tip which I didn't expect. I thought this would be domed on one side and pointed on the other to help line the lips. I thought this would be a bit tricky to line the lips with but actually I was pleasantly surprised.
The dome is actually quite small - thicker than a lip liner but nowhere near as thick as a lipstick. I twisted this up roughly 2-3cm so not to break it and it glided onto my lips. I then used a brush to pull the product into the lips to blend it slightly before applying the product fully across my lips.
I find this has a buttery like consistency which makes my lips feel super hydrated and nourished. It feels comfortable to wear, like I could reapply this without a mirror. It has a semi matte finish without being drying in the slightest which for me is the perfect lip product.
Obviously I've talked about everything that's good but are there any bad points?
I rarely spend anymore than £20 for a lip product, so if I'm going to spend £24 it needs to be for something pretty impressive. I would say that it's promises to 'prime, contour and shape' are somewhat arguable. I did find this primes the lips well, I was able to shape my lip line too, but the 'contour' aspect was a bit of a let down. I didn't notice any 'shading' or contouring properties of this if I'm honest.
Despite that, this is a great product. It's marketing is a bit off for me, but I reckon I'd pay £24 for this in future. With only 4 shades currently available, I hope more shades of this become available but the shade I have (Fair) is a gorgeous blush 'my lips but miles better' shade.
Would you try this out?

This does look like a lovely product and I love the packaging of it. I don't think this particular shade would suit my skin tone, but the product itself does look really creamy and moisturising, something I look for in a product. xx
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty, I love the shade and I much prefer smaller domed lip products like this, I find them easier to control. Great review, I'd love to try one out <3

This sounds like a pretty awesome product, but I agree, £24 is a tiny bit steep for a lip product but if it works then it's worth it! Xx
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely stunning, while £24 is a bit steep it seems to be the general price point for high end brands at the moment.

This is beautiful! I have no other words!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great product but I think if it doesn't contour like it says it does then I'd be out off paying £20+ for it! But the packaging is gorgeous x

I haven't tried many Burberry products but have tried a highlighting primer which is ok. This does look like a lovely shade though xxxx

Burberry packaging is insanely beautiful - I love how the lip contour looks but I'm not sure I could spend that much on it, especially if it doesn't really fulfil all of its claims!

I had no idea that this was even a thing. I love the principle of it and the panicking is stunning. Very elegant. I may have to have a look into it.

I didn't realise that Burberry did makeup (shows how out of touch I am) but I can most brands do everything about now. I really like the look of this product as I'm all for things that are easy to use, but I do think the price would put me off. I could restock most of my makeup bag for that price!
ReplyDeleteAs always, your photos are beaut, Holly! Like Stacey, I had no idea that Burberry did makeup either, but I'm glad to hear that you felt like your purchase was worth the money! I definitely agree that the packaging is stunning! Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts with us!

The packaging looks lovely but personally I don't bother with lip primers as I think your lipstick isn't made to last when your drinking and eating. Maybe one day I'll change my mind.

I'm with you on £24 being a little expensive for a lip product. I love the packaging and the colour too! I didn't know Burberry did make-up either!

Oh I absolutely love Burberry lip products, I always pick one up when I'm in London. I've not read about these lip contours before so I will definitely have to check them out when I'm next over. This shade is gorgeous though it might be a little bit too nude for me.

Wow!!! So impressed with this Burberry lip product, I've very surprisingly never tried anything from Burberry's makeup range but have always been a big fan of their clothing... Dressed in it since being a child (thank you to my parents for great taste haha!) - I love the shade you got but also not so sure about that dome shape?! Hmm, maybe this will be my own birthday treat of the week! Thank you for a great post xxx
ReplyDeleteI love Burberry packaging, I think it's so understated and luxurious! Lucky you getting sent this to try out too, I do think the colour is beautiful but it is so bloody expensive! Haha
