Chef á la Holly!

Soooo I decided to cook for the girlys on Friday night...

If you're a regular reader of my little blog in the corner of the universe then first of all, HIGH FIVE! Secondly, you might be aware of the fact that I cannot cook to save myself and cooking for anyone is a huge risk.

WELL, consider me a RISK TAKER!

Just some ingredients... as you do!
I decided to go super super simple and make 3 courses, 2 of which came out of a pack and required no cooking - RESULT!

The first course was nachos and cheese but I'm one of these people who hates soggy Nacho's and so decided I would just use Doritos and heat up a cheese sauce in the microwave and serve it that way - easy peasy!

For the main course, I made a vegetarian Carbonara sauce and penne pasta. I bought the Dolmio Carbonara sauce which was meat free and also bought some cream, grated cheese, garlic and mushrooms and added the whole lot together and ET VOILA!

The sauce... the pasta... IN TWO POTS!
I had a little stumbling block - I didn't realise the mushrooms needed to be peeled until halfway through so ended up starting the mushrooms all over again... FAIL! Since when did mushrooms need to be peeled? Ugghhh!

So, I boiled the pasta and it took SO long to cook! it shouldn't take 40 minutes to cook some pasta right? but anyways, 40 minutes later, the pasta was ready!

I added all the sauce together with the pasta and of course, I tried it and it tasted AMAZING!!!

The finished result... yum!

So the pasta tasted YUM! I absolutely loved it and was super impressed with my efforts even though it wasn't really the trickiest of meals to make but everyone seemed to love it and the plates were scraped clean! We had some garlic break and some cut up pita pockets with this - DOUBLE YUM!

The pudding was a cheat - Mint ice cream, raspberry ripple ice cream & sauce - strawberry AND chocolate but I didn't eat any because I was super super full and I had chef's face - IE - my face looked like a babboon's backside - SO RED! well seen I don't cook often!

Anyhoo! that was my SUCCESSFUL meal, cooked BY ME! Who'd have thought it?

If you've got any simple recipe's I can try that don't involve any other meat except from fish or chicken then please feel free to leave them below!
