My Top 5 Face Brushes*

I love wearing makeup as you all know. Over the years, I've bought, been gifted and sent hundreds of makeup brushes but let's face it, a lass can never have too many, right?

It can be a bit daunting knowing which brushes are worth buying and it can definitely work out pricey if you buy brushes you might not use very often. So I thought I would show you my favourites with my top five face brushes.

First up is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I use this for applying liquid foundation and it gives me the perfect base every time I use it. I never get any shedding or lines on my face, I always get a good even coverage and am able to blend really well with it.

Next, I've been using the Real Techniques Bold Metals 100 brush which is a powder brush. You're going to see a lot of Real Techniques in this post, I was not sent the items nor am I being paid to promote them just FYI. This powder brush is suuuuuper soft and doesn't give a scratchy feeling on my face. This actually washes really well too which is always a good thing - I wash my brushes a lot (but they are all filthy in the pics. Soz about that!)

I've been loving the Real Techniques Bold Metals 300 brush which is a tapered blush brush. Aside from the fact that it looks AMAZING, this is the perfect blush brush. It collects product effortlessly and glides onto your skin without leaving a splodge of makeup in one place. It blends really well.

Finally for Real Techniques is the Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush. I'm not really huge on contouring. I will have a whirl at it when I have some time or when I feel like I need a bit of extra definition but in general I can't be assed. This brush though, it makes my life much easier. I use this in the hollows of my cheeks and along my hairline with a light contour colour and it just works perfectly into the skin.

Last but by no means least is probably the most underrated brush in your collection. I use a fan brush for highlighter along the high points of my face. I love the Smashbox Fan Brush because it's soft and washes really well. It also gathers product really easily so you're not going back to layer up.

None of the brushes mentioned are cheap which is why it's important to find the ones you really will use regularly and will wash well as you use them.

What brushes are you loving right now? I'd love to know if any of you have cheaper alternatives!

  1. I absolutely love Real Techniques Brushes (just like you apparently :P), but I still don't own the Bold Metals Collection but it's been something on my lust list for a while
